Indian Wedding Photography
Emma & Mark booked us for Indian Wedding Photography, we covered their Marriage over two days, first for the English ceremony and then the second day we covered the Indian / Hindu Ceremony, please see above for samples from the second day.
A Hindu wedding is Vivaha or “Kalyanam”(Sanskrit: विवाह Tamil: கல்யாணம்) and the wedding ceremony is called vivaah sanskar in North India and Kalyanam in South India. Hindus attach a great deal of importance to marriages. The ceremonies are very colourful, and celebrations may extend for several days.
In Indian context, red is also connected to the rising sun. Besides, according to astrology, the planet in charge of marriages, Mars, is red in colour. Therefore, Hindu brides are asked to wear red during the wedding proceedings since it stands for prosperity and fertility.
